Australian High Commissioner, Susannah Hodson, said the visit underscored the importance of preparedness and partnership. “Partnership is our greatest strength in times of need.

The ADV Reliant made a three-day pit stop in Rarotonga, Cook Islands to showcase specialist gear, deliver handy training sessions, and reinforce Australia’s ongoing promise to help keep Pacific waters safe.

Here are the key activities that Teekay supported during the successful visit that continues to build long-lasting partnership with our friends in the Pacific.

Capacity Building

During the visit, the ship welcomed special guests onboard, including Cook Islands Prime Minister, the Hon Mark Brown and the Australian and New Zealand High Commissioners. They joined the guided tours displaying Reliant’s disaster relief, health support, and search-and-rescue capabilities.

Equipment Delivery

ADV Reliant delivered essential equipment to the Cook Islands Police Service (as Minister of Police) to support their maritime security efforts, including maintenance for their patrol boat – a gesture that Safety and Security is a priority for all.

Maritime Training

Our dependable ADV Reliant crew, alongside Australian Defence personnel, ran maritime-focused first aid training for a mix of government agencies, helping local responders sharpen their skills for sea-based medical emergencies. Participants included a broad selection of Cook Islands maritime and emergency professionals, including representatives from Rarotonga Hospital, Police and Fire services, NGO’s, various government agencies, Te Puna Marama Voyaging Foundation, and Ports and Airports Authorities, as well as other organisations involved in marine rescue and support operations.

Strengthening Partnerships

Australian High Commissioner, Susannah Hodson, said the visit underscored the importance of preparedness and partnership. “Partnership is our greatest strength in times of need. If natural disasters strike in the Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, our wider Pacific family stand shoulder to shoulder to protect lives and rebuild communities. ADV Reliant’s visit is a testament to that commitment.” Hodson also praised the crew’s contribution to regional capability, saying: “From delivering essential equipment to providing specialised training, their work ensures our Pacific partners have the tools and expertise they need to respond to challenges at sea and on land.

We salute the men and women of ADV Reliant for making this possible and we are proud of our integral role in supporting these operations. Here are some photos from this meaningful exercise:

Story #10 – Until Our Next Voyage

Every voyage tells a story of the paths we took, the decisions we made, and the values that shaped, and continues to shape, who we are at Teekay and where we are headed, together. Stories from Sydney to the sea, lores from London and Vancouver, moments from Mumbai and Singapore define who we are and celebrate our strengths and triumphs as One Team.

No matter the distance, whether sea or shore, when you are a part of Teekay, you belong to a network of inspiring colleagues all over the world, committed to bring you nothing less than excellence.

This is our Teekay voyage, and we can proudly say that with us, your journey is in safe and capable hands.

Story #9 – Celestial Campbell

You’ve seen plenty of movements from sea to shore, but my 7-year reverse journey from shore to sea is just as rewarding.

I started by supporting our Business Development, Operations, and Marine HR teams from reception to fleetwide recruitment drives. It was through working closely with our crews that I realized how much I wanted to experience life at sea myself. Now, I’m a Marine Steward onboard our Teekay fleet, responsible for supporting day-to-day catering operations making life at sea a little brighter for our crew.

The shift from office life to ship life was both exciting and a little nerve-wracking, but I had an incredible HR Manager who said, “You should go for it, you’ll be amazing!” Not to mention the crews across the fleet who supported me every step of the way. From my very first day onboard, the team instantly made me feel at home.

I’ll never forget my first voyage in high seas. I thought my water sports background meant I’d have great sea legs… but I was green! We laughed through it, and I found my rhythm quickly. Now, I absolutely love riding the waves, they’ve even come in handy during chemotherapy. Nothing builds resilience quite like sea training!

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I knew I’d have to shave my head, but I didn’t want it to be a sad moment. Knowing this, my ship team threw a big lunch, gave me a heartfelt get-well card, and even raised money to help with my medical costs. Then they all lined up to give me hugs and wish me a speedy recovery. For laughs, I then ended up trying every haircut imaginable: undercuts, mohawks, even a rat tail! What could’ve been one of the hardest moments of my life turned into one of the most special. A real reminder of the heart, humor, and family spirit that makes Teekay so special.

Up until my recovery, the whole fleet sent messages, raised funds, and the shore team never stopped checking in. Teekay is the kind of place where people genuinely care, celebrate your wins, and lift you up when you need it most. That’s why I’m proud to be part of this team, because Teekay doesn’t just talk about its values, it lives them.

With my time in Teekay, I’ve met some incredible people along the way and built friendships that will last a lifetime, from my first day in the office to my time at sea, and now through recovery. The people here have made such a difference in my life and I’m looking forward to what’s next, continuing to learn, contribute, and be part of a team that genuinely cares about what we do and who we do it with.

Being here is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Story #8 – Kenneth de Vera

Do you know that mixed feeling of anticipation, nervousness, and excitement? I felt all of these and more when I joined Teekay’s cadetship program upon earning my Bachelor of Science in Maritime Transportation. From the very start, Teekay already made it clear to me that they were committed to my growth and development. So when I moved up the ranks from Cadet to Chief Officer, I gave the exact same commitment Teekay gave me.

One of my proudest accomplishments is reaching the position of Senior Officer. It is a journey filled with achievements, challenges, and incredible learning. I still remember the first time I stepped onboard as a junior officer, eager to prove myself and to soak in all the knowledge. But it was my mentors onboard who trusted me and gave me opportunities that truly made me learn. Everybody makes mistakes, but my mentors taught me to learn how to acknowledge my mistakes and turn them into wisdom. My journey is a reminder that one’s growth absolutely takes an entire village.

Years ago, I worked alongside our shore team. During the assignment, I was asked for my feedback on training required for Seafarers like me, the same training that I had undertaken to achieve my professional growth. I was put in a position than can somehow influence the success of future aspiring Senior Officers in one small, but critical aspect.

I took the job seriously knowing how the right training can prepare and support my fellow colleagues. It’s Teekay’s sense of shared responsibility, both at sea and ashore, and a genuine focus on People that really makes me believe that this is the company I want to be in for the long-term. Everything about Teekay gives you a purpose and our offices always find a way to involve us at work and at play with similar expectations for Senior Officers onboard.

From the very start, I’ve always felt like I am part of something bigger than just the day-to-day operations onboard. And from the very start, I’ve already felt like I was meant to grow as Cadet.

Teekay made me feel it, believe it, and achieve it, both personally and professionally.

Kenneth de Vera
Chief Officer

Story #7 – Mads Bjornebye and Paul Roberts

The new Fuel EU Maritime regulations are shaping our industry. By staying true to our values, we see these changes as opportunities, driving us to find practical, real, and long lasting solutions.

For example, every drop of fuel saved can have a big impact on our Sustainability goals. Responsible shipping today means looking at the full life cycle of fuels, from using less to finding cleaner alternatives. We’ve explored different biofuels, checking how much they reduce carbon, and how available and cost-effective they are. It’s been a real team effort across departments and we’re making great progress, thanks to our teams!

Speaking for the Bunkering Team, we have been working well together since Day 1. They say opposites attract and in some ways, we are, but that’s what keeps all the bases covered so well. We think it’s because we bring different blends of our experiences and strengths to the mix (pun intended) and we both share the same goals, the same drive, and the same Passion. We want to make bunkers thrive and be the best it can be.

With our combined operational and trading experience, we don’t just do what is convenient. We do what is right AND at the right time.

So, when we need to draw solid solutions, we all band together: Commercial, Technical, IT, Finance, and other teams…not forgetting our colleagues at Sea that are optimizing the fuels on our ships. It’s the #TeekaySPIRIT that connects us all, telling us that we’re all onboard, moving in the same direction. A charity bike ride or running a marathon warrants the same #TeekaySPIRIT as earning our customers’ trust and delivering on our commitment.

Because when you look at a Teekay funnel, you expect Operational Excellence; a daily reminder of what makes us different from other companies. Even if we view the Teekay funnel from different angles, to each of us, it still means the same thing.

It is a symbol that affirms that in Teekay, when we say we are going to do something, we really do it, and we do it right.

Story #6 – Joslyn Mendonca

As a mechanical and marine engineer, I love working on machines. Even when I’m on vacation, I keep tinkering with my cars and bike. But over the years, I have surprisingly developed into a people person! Teekay just has a way of bringing out that side of you.

When an old colleague pointed at a Teekay funnel, he told me that Teekay was his dream company. In his words, it was ‘the best company in the world’. I got curious, I applied, and now that I am here, I can say that he wasn’t wrong.

I joined Teekay on Zenith Spirit as a junior engineer. As the only one onboard from a different country, the Captain noticed and asked the Chief Cook to prepare a special dish for me. It wasn’t about the food. I’d have been happy eating what everyone else had. What truly mattered was the gesture: the Captain and Chief Cook went out of their way to make me feel cared for.

I show this exact same care for the ship and my team and we’re 100% determined to keep our ships at their best. Call it sheer Passion if you will, but I don’t think I could’ve done, achieved, or solved anything without my Ship Team. Sometimes, I’d be overhauling a pump with the Pumpman, setting up the heating with Chief Officer, and then picking up provisions with the Messman. We’d work together, have a laugh, and really feel like we are one big unit.

Eventually, I got promoted to Chief Engineer, where I witnessed firsthand how our office teams supported us onboard and at home. I also embraced office working opportunities where I learned so much from colleagues ashore as they welcomed my seafaring point of view. In Teekay, developing the most effective systems means seeking real feedback, ashore and at sea.

As someone who just transitioned from sea to shore, my office colleagues would always involve me in social activities, give me a voice in developing a new digital system, or clap twice as loud after I finish a speaking presentation. Again, it’s not about the parties or being in meetings or having a new title. What truly mattered are the gestures: my colleagues at sea and ashore keep going out of their way to make me feel cared for.

Story #5 – Alexandr Lyakhov

Sailing is in my blood and carrying my father and grandfather’s legacy has been my goal since childhood. I work with Passion for my family’s legacy, Safety for my wife and son, and Teamwork for my ‘family’ onboard. Seafaring is not just a career for me. It is a way of life.

Because I live for the sea, I always make sure that I am an approachable leader.

When you treat your ship team like family, you realize that safety becomes sacred. You will never want to see them harmed, but you would want to see them grow. The greatest reward I receive at the end of my tour is when a teammate asks, “Chief, would you like to extend your tour of duty?”

I am lucky to be in a company that shares my values. I don’t like to divide the crew. In my opinion, there is only one team onboard-the Ship Team. If my colleagues face any difficulties in the engine room or the galley, they can definitely count on us. Positive feedback from terminals, customers, and officials is the entire Ship Team’s contribution.

Over the years, Teekay has made significant efforts to digitalize, making our daily work easier. We’ve entered a new era where we now have 24/7 high-speed access to the global network. I realize that tech in Teekay is always evolving to make tasks more efficient, but I make sure that we don’t lose the personal touch onboard; like hiking with my team and Vessel Manager, Guang Yi Chen.

It’s at the top of my list along with karaoke competitions, PlayStation 5 and foosball contests, musical band performances, tending the vertical garden, and more. In fact, I always carry a few tabletop games in my pocket just to break the ice. I just find that happy, well-rested crew members work more effectively and safely.

During my free time, I love to explore the country with my family, and I enjoy outdoor sports. One time, I climbed one of the highest peaks in the world and brought the Teekay flag with me, the same flag that passed through global offices with words like “You make us proud!” all the way from Singapore and Vancouver.

Since I started with Teekay as a Deck Cadet and worked my way up as an Additional Master, I realized that Teekay always celebrated the values that truly matter to me.

Story #4 – Taylah Bullow

This has been my dream since I was 14 years old.

When I first stepped on board one of Teekay’s vessels, it was supposed to be for just a week. But I kept asking to stay longer, one more week, and then another. Eventually, I finished the rest of the swing. Something about the environment clicked. Teekay felt different.

As a Deck Cadet, I’ve had the chance to be involved in work that’s both challenging and fulfilling. I’ve learned a lot by doing, and I’ve been lucky to work under officers who take training seriously and bring a high standard to everything they do.

One moment that stands out was my first pilotage run through Sydney Harbour. Of course, I wasn’t doing it alone. Our officers were there guiding and backing me, but it was still a turning point for me in terms of confidence and responsibility.

Recently, I’ve been learning how to support flying operations. Working alongside the Second Mate, T’aki Tamani, I’ve learned how to bring the ship onto the heading needed for wind conditions and coordinate movements for the vessel. Her mentorship has made a real difference in how I approach the role.

The crew culture has also shaped my experience in a big way. Teekay vessels tend to have tightly knit teams, and that sense of camaraderie makes a difference. I still remember my first “Crossing the Line” ceremony with costumes, quizzes from King Neptune, and a whole ship coming together for something fun and a little ridiculous. Moments like that stay with you.

What I’ve found here is more than just technical training. I’ve been supported, challenged, and given space to grow. I’m proud to be part of a company that values learning, safety, and respect, and to be working toward a career I’ve wanted since I was a teenager.

This is the kind of work I always hoped to do…and now I’m doing it.

Story #3 – Rohit Kapoor

My professional accomplishments? I can easily recall several successful technical, Safety, and Sustainability-related projects, but there’s really nothing I can say that does not involve global teams working together. You see, despite overseeing the whole of Ship Management, ashore and at sea, our success is never really tied to…just me or to any individual.

We have formidable colleagues at sea and in global offices with different nationalities and diverse backgrounds, and we are all united with the common goal of achieving Operational Excellence. To us, this means delivering safe, reliable, and industry leading performance in every rank or level, every ship or office, and from every individual. No exceptions.

This is what I have always admired about Teekay ever since I was a young officer from another company and up until I became the Master of one of our previous ships, the Godavari Spirit. I was always impressed by the quality of people and how we always took Safety and Operational Excellence seriously. It was a brand that everyone, including myself, wanted to be a part of.

Now that I have seen Teekay inside and out as I have journeyed from sea to shore through different lenses and scopes, all I can say is that our SPIRIT values, our people, our working environment, our company culture, or collective drive, our value for our people…all of these are nothing short of AMAZING.

Of course, I had a hand in building it too!

I have done river cleanups and dance-a-thons, donned Halloween costumes and sung Christmas carols. I have run, walked, swung, stretched, paddled, batted, and bowled for different team activities, grew a beard and then changed it to a moustache, all for a good cause, in good fun, and always done together as a team.

We sometimes think that excellence ends with just doing the job right. I think excellence goes way beyond that. It’s in the way we shake someone’s hand, ready to have a real conversation. It’s in the way we show up in the office or onboard to make sure people feel welcome and are at ease. It’s how we can easily relate with diverse colleagues with our shared values and goals, making sure no one is left behind with training, mentoring, and feeling a sense of belonging.

When you realize how driven, focused, and fun the people in Teekay are, you just can’t help but be drawn in, as I easily was, many, many years ago.

Story #2 – Katty Wu Wu

Holding a mug that says, “This calls for a new spreadsheet!”, I smile and look back to the memory of my younger self and all the expectations I had when I first joined Teekay as a financial analyst.

While I am comfortable with speaking in English, Spanish, and Mandarin, numbers speak more to me. But don’t let my passion for numbers fool you; I was also a part of the social committee when I first joined and have been an active mentor, mentee, and speaker in Teekay’s employee-development initiatives over the years. One example comes to mind.

In 2021, we rallied all the women in Teekay who are thriving and making a difference in their respective departments. I was honored to be a part of the group and shared my experience with our global teams. Being in a highly collaborative environment where everyone is committed to delivering quality work, I never once felt unheard or undervalued. In fact, my leaders and peers have constantly encouraged me to be open to challenge and to challenge the norm.

Because of this, I continue to be curious and because of our Teamwork, we continue to celebrate each other’s professional and personal milestones. From negotiations, strategy development, research, and evaluations, my team have always relied on each other to be curious, to collaborate, and to think outside the box.

I believe that’s the kind of mindset that helps a company – and an individual – grow. We are all part of a team, and every role is just as important.

Looking back, I fully appreciate the culture that we have cultivated for decades. It always made me feel like I belong; like I am heard. Like I am home.

Torben Karlshoej had a vision

Since 1973, he surrounded himself with formidable and passionate teams that allowed me to grow from a small chartering business to an ever-evolving, publicly traded, global Tankers and Marine Energy business.

Throughout my voyage that has lasted for more than half a century—and still going strong!—I have had a diversified portfolio reaching at least four publicly traded companies, numerous joint ventures, amazing teams, and unforgettably fun moments, while weathering economic uncertainties, and even a pandemic!

As I was founded on leadership that is built on leaving a legacy beyond one’s tenure, my experienced teams across continents have always performed with their commitment to excellence and upholding my SPIRIT values, the values that bind us all.

I can continue telling you more about my journey, but I want you to experience it through the voices of my family who truly represents me and what I am all about. Each month, you will hear from a different person about who they are, what they believe in, and why they chose to join me on my voyage.

Come along. Our team is always ready to move forward.

2025 finishing on a strong note with spot rate volatility expected to continue in 2026.

The spot tanker market delivered another strong performance in 2025, with rates remaining well above long-term average levels. The year began with relatively stable rates, followed by a notable uplift in the second half driven by higher global oil production, an increase in seaborne crude oil trade volumes, and greater trade inefficiencies due to a tightening of sanctions against Russia.

Looking ahead to 2026, global oil demand is expected to grow by around 1 mb/d as per the average of oil analyst forecasts. However, global oil supply is expected to increase at a faster pace than demand, leading to an oversupply of oil. This is likely to place downward pressure on oil prices and could push the oil price futures curve into contango, a structure that typically supports tanker demand as it encourages further stockpiling and, in extreme cases, leads to tankers being used for floating storage. Geopolitical events will continue to have a significant impact on the market in 2026, particularly with regards to the war in Ukraine and subsequent sanctions against Russia.

Overall, spot tanker rates are expected to remain firm during 2026 as underlying oil market fundamentals continue to provide support, particularly in the first half of the year. An increase in tanker newbuild deliveries from the second half of the year onwards could dampen the supply / demand balance, though this may be offset by the exit of older vessels from the compliant fleet given that the age of the global tanker fleet is at a 25-year high.

Our First Assistant Engineer Bhagyashree Ogale was one of the candidates selected for a Woman’s Leadership and Empowerment program sponsored by the International Maritime Organization and the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA International). She shares her thoughts and wonderful experience brought by this meaningful event.

I was honored to participate in the first-ever Women’s Leadership and Empowerment Programme held at the World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmo, Sweden jointly sponsored by the IMO and WISTA International. Seventeen mid-career women leaders from seventeen different countries were selected for this program, all representing the global maritime sector.

The course focused on strengthening leadership capabilities, enhancing confidence, and inspiring participants to aspire to the highest leadership roles within their organizations. The program also offered dynamic learning through interactive sessions, public speaking workshops, project presentations, and group discussions.

These activities encouraged us to think and act like leaders: taking charge, challenging ourselves, and envisioning our potential as future decision-makers in the industry. With a blend of online and on-campus sessions, we had the invaluable opportunity to connect with professionals from around the world and discuss shared challenges, despite our diverse cultural backgrounds.

In the first stage, we learned about project design and management, theory classes, as well as interactive discussions in the break out rooms.

The second stage focused on enhancing our leadership skills by explaining different leadership styles, mentoring, coaching, public speaking, and ways to write a press release. We were given individual and group projects to brainstorm on ideas and to give presentations on solving real world problems. The ideas from all the women were really inspiring. It opened our eyes to new perspectives and increased our self-confidence. We also realized that we were facing similar issues at work, which helped strengthen our bond. It was really eye opening.

Finally, we had to make a project on how we were going to use these enhanced leadership skills in our work place and mentor someone in order to become a leader in the true sense. This was instrumental as these would be stepping stones to achieve higher levels of leadership. We were fortunate to have great mentors to guide and support us.

The experience broadened our perspective on the multitude of opportunities that exist in the maritime domain and significantly boosted our communication, coaching, mentoring, and presentation skills. Most importantly, the program reinforced a powerful belief: leadership is not defined by gender or age. It is an ability we all possess; developing and excelling in it is a journey we choose to take.”

About the Hazard Reporting Awards

Teekay Tankers employs a cloud-based digital hazard reporting platform. The mobile-friendly platform is used by seafarers to report unsafe acts or unsafe conditions on board as they notice them. By identifying hazards early and often, we can intervene promptly and senior management is able to implement a corrective action outside of regular inspections on-board.

When hazards are reported, they enter our hazard database. This database recognizes and highlights trends. Identifying trends on board helps our vessels narrow their focus on specific areas to fix hazards before danger occurs. These trends are reported fleet-wide so all vessels can benefit from added foresight.

The number of hazards reported by every vessel is then reflected in our Vessel Balanced Scorecard – a digital dashboard that allows us to have a bird’s eye view of fleet safety. This data is essential to make our ships a safer place for our seafaring colleagues to live and work.

To continue encouraging our seafarers to report hazards as they notice them, we have gamified the reporting process. Our vessels are put into teams competing to report the most hazards every quarter. The winners are recognized publicly and awarded a prize.

Stepping onboard any Teekay ship is a learning experience that cannot be taught in any book or manual. It is a full immersion on professionalism, teamwork, and seamanship.

When Voyage Manager, Charles Silva sailed for one voyage onboard Los Angeles Spirit, he didn’t expect a full on learning experience that brought about not just practical knowledge, but instant connection for Charles and everyone onboard.

Hear it from Charles and our Additional Master, Gurkaran Gill themselves!

Charles Silva, Voyage Manager

“I recently had the privilege of sailing onboard the Los Angeles Spirit. It was an incredible opportunity to learn from the fantastic people onboard, from mooring and cargo equipment to engine room, passage planning, stowage and more…

Everyone onboard was exceptionally attentive and eager to share their knowledge, truly enriching my time at sea. Special thanks to Captain Piotr Kuskowski, Chief Engineer Pankaj Kulkarni, Additional Master Gurkaran Gill, Second Officer Ji Chong, First Assistant Engineer Kushank Agarwal, and everyone onboard for taking the time to show me around and share their experience.

It was truly an amazing experience. The crew demonstrated a masterclass in professionalism, teamwork, and seamanship. Their passion for what they do is inspiring and a true embodiment of the Teekay SPIRIT”

Additional Master Gurkaran Gill

“We had the privilege to be in the August company of none other than our Voyage Manager Charles Silva who sailed with us on Los Angeles Spirit for a voyage. We earnestly shared knowledge from each other, diving into the nitty gritty of chartering, broking, freight trading, and the challenges faced by vessels.

Work aside, we as a team connected on an elemental level with Charles. In hindsight, I’m sure he would make a superb seafarer.

You are welcome on board anytime, Charles!”

On October 29, Teekay Corporation and Teekay Tankers released Q3-2025 earnings results.

Teekay Tankers reported its best quarterly performance in the past 12 months, supported by spot tanker rates that remained unusually strong for the season. Rates were well above historical averages, driven by the OPEC+ unwinding of supply cuts and seaborne crude oil trade volumes approaching record highs.

This positive momentum has continued into the fourth quarter, with spot rates strengthening further. A firm winter market is anticipated, supported by higher crude trade volumes, growing inefficiencies from sanctions, low global oil inventories, softer oil prices, and a weaker U.S. dollar. With our strong exposure to the spot market, Teekay Tankers is well positioned to benefit from these favorable conditions.

The company also continued to advance its fleet renewal strategy, completing the purchase of a modern Suezmax and the remaining 50% stake in a VLCC from a joint venture partner. In addition, the sale of four Suezmax tankers and a LR2 vessel, which have now been delivered to their new owners, generated combined gross proceeds of $158.5 million, with an estimated book gain of approximately $47.5 million recorded across the third and fourth quarters.

With low cash flow break-even levels, an integrated operating platform, and a strong balance sheet, the Teekay Group remains well positioned to continue generating significant free cash flow, while advancing its fleet renewal program and returning capital to shareholders through quarterly dividends.
