An Exciting Return to Newbuilding

We mark the special occasion with the first steel cutting for a fully owned conventional tanker in many years.

Teekay recently marked an exciting milestone with the steel cutting of our new Suezmax tanker at Daehan Shipyard in South Korea. The ceremony brought together Teekay employees, shipyard representatives, and ABS Class as we celebrated the official start of construction.

This moment is especially meaningful as it marks the beginning of new opportunities as we celebrated the steel cutting of a 100% owned conventional tanker, reflecting an important step forward in the continued growth and renewal of our fleet.

We are grateful to our partners at Daehan Shipyard and ABS for joining us on this journey and helping bring this vessel to life. Once delivered, the vessel will be named “Torben Spirit” in honor of our founder, recognizing the legacy that continues to guide us today.

As construction gets underway, we look forward to welcoming Torben Spirit to the Teekay fleet in mid-2027.
