ČEZ Group announces the acquisition of a 55.21% stake in GasNet, the leading gas distribution infrastructure operator based in the Czech Republic. Natural gas, and later also hydrogen, will play a key role in the future development of the Czech economy. Through this acquisition, ČEZ Group is securing a strategic position in the transformation of the Czech heat generation industry and its transition away from coal-powered energy generation towards the natural gas and later hydrogen. The ownership stake being sold is currently managed by Macquarie Asset Management, acting on behalf of managed funds. The completion of the transaction is subject to approvals by the European Commission and the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Today, the sale of CEZ Group’s 50% stake in AKCEZ Enerji A.Ş. (AKCEZ), owned in a joint venture together with the Turkish partner AKKÖK Holding A.Ş. (AKKÖK), to Torunlar Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. and Başkent Doğalgaz Dağıtım Gayrimenkul Yatırım Ortaklığı A.Ş. (Torunlar Group) was completed. The sales agreement was signed in July 2022, the transaction was subject to approval by the Turkish antitrust authority and the local energy regulator. AKCEZ comprises of three subsidiaries that deal with electricity distribution, energy sales and energy services.

CEZ Group's Elektrárna Dukovany II (EDU II), a wholly owned subsidiary of ČEZ, has received final bids for the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Dukovany from three bidders. The suppliers submitted a binding bid for Dukovany Unit 5 and non-binding bids for the other three units. US-Canadian Westinghouse, French EdF and Korean KHNP had until 11 a.m. today to submit their bids. EDU II will now evaluate the bids from economic, commercial, and technical points of view. The evaluation model is set up on the basis of recommendations from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

ČEZ, a. s., concluded a contract for the construction of a waste-to-energy facility (WTE) in the Mělník power plant location with the supplier selected in the procurement procedure according to the Public Procurement Act, which was an association of shareholders from the Metrostav Group, the company Metrostav DIZ, s. r. o., and Subterra, a. s. The selected supplier will carry out the contract based on the tender conditions as a so-called "turn-key" supply in the form of an EPC project. The value of the contract is 507.48 million euros.
