US company to supply nuclear fuel also to Dukovany, not only to Temelín

The American company Westinghouse with a production plant in Sweden will supply nuclear fuel also for the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant from 2024. Currently, only the Russian company TVEL was the only one in the world producing fuel for that type of reactors and supplying it to Dukovan. After the outbreak of war in Ukraine last year, CEZ immediately started negotiations to find a new fuel supplier for security reasons. Westinghouse accelerated the development and the contract signed today is the result.

Elektrárna Dukovany II, a. s., a CEZ Group company, has received bids from three bidders for the construction of a new nuclear power source in Dukovany

Elektrárna Dukovany II, a. s. (EDU II), a wholly owned subsidiary of CEZ, has received bids from three bidders for the construction of a new nuclear power source in Dukovany. US-Canadian Westinghouse, French EdF and Korean KHNP had until today to submit their bids. EDU II will now analyze the bids and then negotiate with the bidders. The bidders will then submit their final bids by the end of September next year.

ČEZ finally takes over ŠKODA JS, a major Czech company, primarily operating in nuclear servicing and engineering

Yesterday, the ČEZ Energy Group became the 100% owner of ŠKODA JS, a traditional Czech company operating in the field of nuclear energy. With the purchase, ČEZ solved the problem of its major supplier, which several years ago became part of the Russian engineering group OMZ, controlled by Gazprombank. This put the company at risk of sanctions, which had a potential impact on securing key supplies for the ČEZ Group's nuclear power plants. The agreement was concluded in June this year with the shares temporarily held by WOOD & Company pending the antitrust authorities' transaction approval.
